Job Purpose
The Draughtsman – SolidWorks will be responsible for preparing detailed fabrication and mechanical drawings for tanks, heat exchangers, process systems, and related equipment as per project requirements and applicable industry standards.
The role requires strong knowledge of mechanical drafting, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, piping standards, and fabrication detailing.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of fabrication drawings for Tanks, Heat Exchangers, and Process Equipment.
- Preparation of detailed mechanical and piping drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Drafting and detailing of systems as per project requirements and desired output.
- Review and verification of input data for accurate drawing generation.
- Standardization and maintenance of drafting systems and drawing practices.
- Periodic upgradation and implementation of drafting tools and methodologies.
- Coordination with interdepartmental teams for smooth project execution.
- Ensure implementation of safety aspects and process requirements in drawings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering and piping standards.
- Maintain drawing quality, revision control, and documentation.
- Support internal and external customer requirements related to design and drafting activities.
- Coordinate with fabrication and production teams for drawing clarifications and modifications.
Educational Qualification
Must:
- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred:
- Certification or training in AutoCAD / SolidWorks
Experience Required
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical drafting and fabrication drawing preparation.
- Experience in process equipment, tanks, heat exchangers, skid systems, or pharmaceutical equipment will be preferred.
Technical Skills Required
- Strong experience in AutoCAD drafting
- Good working knowledge of SolidWorks / 3D modelling software
- Experience in fabrication and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of ASME BPE, BS 4825, DIN, and process piping standards
- Understanding of fabrication practices and process equipment detailing
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
