CIP (Clean in place) in Pharmaceutical Industry

Clean in place (CIP) is a cleaning method that helps you to clean vessels, interior surfaces of pipes, filters, process equipment, and fittings in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant without disassembling them.

Today integrated CIP solutions play a key role in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes from system skid selection to identifying the intended targets and required parameters. Variables such as temperature, velocity/pressure, chemical concentration, and exposure time can all be controlled using a programmable CIP skid to deliver reliable, repeatable, and verifiable results.

The water required to clean pharmaceutical production equipment must be as high quality as the water used for production. This means purified water capacity must be sufficient to meet the needs of cleaning, in addition to production volume. Typically, systems are also taken apart twice a year for cleaning, utilizing chemicals stronger than those of the typical CIP cleaning cycle.

Here are some of the key reasons why the CIP system is important:

  1. Prevents Contamination: The CIP system ensures that all the processing equipment and piping systems are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each batch or production run. This prevents the accumulation of contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms that can cause contamination of the final product and compromise its safety and
  2. Saves Time and Labour: The CIP system automates the cleaning process, eliminating the need for manual cleaning, which can be time-consuming and labour-intensive. This saves time and labour costs and ensures that the cleaning process is consistent and effective.
  3. Greater Safety: CIP incurs fewer manual operations, removal of the human factor errors, and safety at

  1. Reduces Water and Chemical Usage: The CIP system is designed to use minimal water and cleaning chemicals, which reduces the environmental impact and saves on operational costs.
  2. Increases Productivity: By automating the cleaning process, the CIP system allows for more efficient use of production This increases productivity and reduces downtime between production runs.
  3. Improves Quality: The CIP system ensures that the production equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized, which improves the quality and con sistency of the final product. This is particularly important in industries such as food and pharmaceuticals, where product quality and safety are

Nilsan Nishotech offers high-quality Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems to meet the unique cleaning requirements of the personal & home care, food and beverage, and dairy industries. We completely understand that complying with stringent hygiene standards is imperative for these industries as any negligence in plant cleanliness can result in product degradation and contamination during the production process. Our CIP systems are designed for these specific requirements and guarantee reliable and consistent cleaning. As the name Clean-In-Place suggests, they thoroughly clean the interior surfaces of plant equipment or pipeline circuits without dismantling the equipment.
